WORD!

I was thinking about which WORD would do me best for 2014.  Last year my word was ENOUGH, and I still like that one… I was going to go with JOY, as that is my life mission, to be happy. To be ME from a place of HAPPINESS…

I have found over the years that when I'm handing over a quilt, during any of the Bumble Beans Basics events, I find my greatest JOY.  Why? through sharing.  Lately, when ever I'm teaching, giving, talking about quilts, I find that same JOY…  It's all about sharing… Make, create, and give it away…

So I took a few minutes today, to make something short, easy and fun.  My word for the YEAR…. SHARE. A good reminder, which leads to my JOY.

SO. This is the next challenge!  What WORD is your WORD for the year?

I hope you've been thinking about it since I gave that hint back at the end of the last challenge… What word can be your guiding light this year?

Make a fun small banner, or mini quilt, or whatever you want it to be, just make it and FINISH it… This is not meant to be a UFO!  Make it fast,
make some fabric into your design.
How can you use the made fabric to create your word?

On mine, I did reverse appliqué. I have to quilt mine yet, but I got my top together very quickly, so that I will finish it… It's all about the WORD…

You have ONLY til the end of this month, January, to get it made… Work fast, get it done, and let's hit the ground running for 2014 with a happy, creative year!

Then be prepared… Their may be another challenge for you to Make and GIVE something away. ;-)

But YOU first… Make your piece, post about, share your process and why you chose your word.

Want to participate and email me a pic of your creation to post for you?
Email me your pic (if you don't have posting rights) with a blurb about your word…
Please write it in a  regular email format, so I can grab it and post..(TIME is an issue this year with all the traveling I'm doing)  DO NOT send it in a word doc form.  I can't do that quickly...
Thanks!

No links out of the site, people come here to see your inspiration.

Label your post WORD2014, so we can click that one link to see ALL the projects.

So… What's your word?
Will you play along?

My word for the year is "Peace". Bringing up three boys is chaotic at times. I could use a little peace in my home.

REST - because I run myself ragged...I took your advice and hopped into the studio. I've got it quilted. I am very new to applique arts so it is not perfect, but it is done except for binding! I'll post it tomorrow. Thank you!!!

I'll play along. My word is LOVE. I am going to try to approach everything that comes before me from a place of love. No matter how challenging or frustrating the situation may be. Love will keep my heart open to any possibility. Thanks for the new challenge!

My word is ACCEPT. I always struggle with accepting the work I do. I always think its not good enough and yet my customers come back for more. So Accept my work as it is while always striving to grow in my quilting experience.

Ive narrowed my word down to a choice of 4! Last year was Focus, this year I'm looking at Create, Possibility, Inspire, or Grow. I'll be making a banner for my studio to keep me focused! x

My word is TIME. I just retired from teaching so I could spend more time being a grandmom, sewing and exercising.
I have found it's easy to spend time not getting much done; that I need to be more intentional about getting things done or a month will be gone with not much to show for it.

Great word! I have not chosen a word, but someone else had Believe. I liked that one as well.

Love your little word quilt: wonderful way to kick off a new year. My word for 2014 is GROW. Must finish FMQ in progress before doing any new piecing, look forward to playing along in a few days.

I think I'm going with TRUST this year. Trust myself, my the process, trust that the right recipient will come along for the quilts I create. Not sure I'll get a little quilt made since I've taken on a couple of other challenges recently but my word may show up in one of those other projects!

Will definitely play along but haven't made a final decision on a word yet.

Hi Mine is also "create" as I neglected my creativity due to young kids and part time studies, which I finished last year. I got your 15 min play book from the library and it really is inspiring.

My word is PLAY. My focus for 2014 will be to enjoy the process and not just finishing something. I took your class in December in CT and it was great. It was definitely out of my comfort zone! I'm going to use some pieces from that class and add to it for a mini quilt. Thanks for the inspiration. Susan

My word is SMILE.
I always enjoy looking at your work.
Your book was a Christmas gift to me.
Now, the challenge to myself is to jump in and have my
15 minutes of play!

I also come up with the word SMILE this morning while out on a walk with my husband along our beautiful coastal walkway. We met so many people either walking or on bikes and the majority of those people greeted us with a smile. It felt so uplifting to be smiling and greeting strangers and receiving a smile or greeting back. Before that I was going to choose PLAY.

I would like to choose 'KINDNESS' or 'GRACE' as my word for the year. To me, either word exhibits a compassionate, forgiving spirit.

I picked " INCLUDE" Because Imhave to remember to include my family in some of my projects. I asked my daughters thinking they would say no in piecing a quick quilt but they said yes. We had great time! Three sewing machines goin, three ironing machines going and wow that went fast! So this is my word for the year! So thanks for this challenge!
