Scary...

I loved V's idea of a fabric portrait, but at the same time thought "This is SCARY!!!".
I don't really like having my picture taken - so that was hurdle # 1. And I am not really artistic - reason # 2, and then I could have come up with a million other reasons why I should NOT do this. But I signed up and now I better deliver!
So here is my humble 1st attempt, probably more to come. It's nothing completed, but my play time is up.
Ok, so I took several portrait pic's, deleted them, took some more, deleted them, .... And finally thought: this is the ONE!

My printer went on strike, neither could I re-size the photo to a decent size, but this is just a concept.... and I was on a mission. I left the pic up on my laptop screen, took some steam-a-seam 2, held it against the screen and followed outlines & some details with a pencil. This was just to overcome the non-artistic part... you may be light years ahead of me!

Found some fabric for the first go around, tried different backgrounds and this is where I stand.

If you know me, you may recognize me - or not?

Now you took a peek and hopefully you laughed or smiled and said, I could do this sooo much better. Well, please, come and join! If I can do this, what are YOU waiting for? And boy, is it ever fun!
Say cheese,

Barb in MI

Wish my hair would ever stay in place like this - I got curls that don't like being told what to do...

Barb,
I am the same way, never have my picture taken and when I do, I am usually doing an outdoor sport. I think your sketch and start are wonderful.

Barb!! It's so funny because the sane thing happened to me... My printer wouldn't print do I had to wing it from the screen!! :-) it's fate! Your meant to do this project!!
You look great!! I like how you went through your process which I think
is really cool and special! Part of my reason for doing this! I heard the other day, do something that scares you once a day....
We will all grow from the experience...

Keep pushing through! So far, soooo good!

it looks fabulous! I like the red background, but then I'm a red kinda gal! The fabric you're using for your hair works really well.

Thank you so much for your kind comments! It's been a journey... And V: I thought exactly along the same lines of 'do something scary every day!". And it was scary to a point that I didn't even want to post anything, but now I am over it and it may as well have changed my general attitude towards having pic's taken!

It looks great, Barb! Your first paragraph could have been written by me. That was exactly my reaction. But I'll follow your lead and dive in!

Love your "hair"!
