a start

How funny is this?
what a rough night! blood shot eyes!
My printer went on the fritz, and I couldn't get anything to print
so I had to sketch roughly and quickly a rough outline of my photo..
.
Here I traced again the hair to make the pattern, then cut it out...
using the flowers to make the highlights...

I knew I wanted to bump up the COLOR on my portrait...
Just because I live in blue and brown, didn't' mean
I have stay that way on my portrait! ;-)
Artistic license!!

(sort of like the orange bags under my eyes!) HE HE!

So I went with some favorite colors and fabrics so far...
These are only laid out...
I would cut a pattern piece out of paper, then cut it out of fabric
nd all of these pieces are just laid on right now...
I will fuse them down, and machine stitch it out...
I had some ideas of adding a big crazy background, so i started playing

and so far have ended with this..... OK, I'm kind of liking it... this is starting to work for me...
needs some more darks in my hair... It's sort of scary looking
but fun! Simpler is better!
It's much jazzier than I would have thought I would do...
And no more bags under my eyes! yippeee!

it also went much faster laying out then I thought it would.. now to fusing it...
that will be a bit of a drag... oh well... enough for today!

Hope this gives you some ideas for starting...
have fun!

That is so cool! I have been playing with my picture on the computer today. Selecting one was not that difficult as I only have one decent shot of myself.-)

That's awesome! Love the decreasing "topography" of your face with each iteration!

I love it. I guess I better make up my mind on a photo and get moving.

Amazing! I played with some computer effects last night. Not sure if I have a picture I like yet, though.

You know how to just "go with it" and try stuff - I plan too much. Love what you are doing.

that is fabulous - I love how you can just jump right in and do! I tend to overthink things and am slow getting started. This technique you are using is the same way I'm thinking of proceeding. Now to find a picture to deviate from...
