For Lynn!

Who asked about the process of making my little house quilt. Process?! Take one pile of bright, odd shaped scraps (mine are mostly batiks) and a tablemat. Think of a scene, or let the scraps inspire you. Place the scraps on the mat until you are happy with the picture. Don't then sit around for weeks before you sew...I did! There is no 'right' or 'perfect' with scraps, right?! Think a little about the order to sew and maybe take a digital photo before you disturb the pieces. Then just sew!

Played again last night...maybe they would make a baby quilt? Though the house picture made a great 'new home' card for friends who've just moved.

Very very cute. Batiks alone are addicting. The colors are fabulous... A whole quilt with blocks like that, FUN!

Hurray, my own post!! Thank you so much, that does help a lot. I really like the idea of taking a quick photo just to help keep my plan in order while I am sewing it. One of the reasons I joined along (other than to use up my mountain of scraps) is to become more adventurous and less inhibited (as pertains to quilting of course). Everyone's posts are really inspiring. Your latest block is beautiful, I love the fabrics - today I am right there on that little boat in the middle of that blue water - not not really I'm off to the food store and run errands - but I can pretend.

I'm so limited...I always need a "process" to follow! Beautiful job!

beautiful bright scraps, gorgeous little boat scene. Taking a picture is a great idea once you've got a layout. Lets you experiment with different layouts, too. You can play and fiddle with the pieces but then you're still able to go back to the one 3 ago that you like best!

That is a beautiful way to use scraps.
Sometimes I think scraps are the best way to get our creative juices flowing.

What a great scene - I think you should trade the finished piece for time in someone's cottage. . .maybe mine on Washington Island?:-)
