Oriental anyone???

Blogger knocked me off three times this morning, and two of those times I had bright and cute things to say that I have now forgotten.

The oriental 15 minutes (well more like 2 hours) evolved from a, let's say....situation.  Carrie came over last weekend looking for a container.  When I came into the quilt room yesterday I realized what she had done.  She took the container that held my orientals and just dumped them on the worktable.  She is 25, married and doesn't even live here anymore!  Geez, do they EVER leave???

So I kept looking at that pile of orientals and thought.......hmmmm, they would make a really nice oriental clamshell quilt with black clams in between.  Why I thought I needed another project I have no idea.  But based on that thought, I set about cutting up those orientals into clams.  Then I got the black down and started making clams.

Following the clam frenzy, I noticed the pile of scrap pieces created by the clam business.  So I began to sew them together in 6 1/2 inch squares.  At some point I decided I needed to integrate some non-orientals into the blocks.  So with no rhyme nor reason, I ended up with 9 more blocks to meld with my 6 already in the bucket.

So here is the work product from the oriental clam frenzy.  And if you want to see the oriental clams and black clams in a mach up, check out my blog post at:

That is if blogger lets me post THIS one!  LOL.
