Hexagons

I have been seeing hexagons a lot and thought it would be fun to try some with my scraps.
I started with the pink ones and decided to go with my fun scraps and use dots and small florals, to keep with the dot theme.
They are not that hard to do and I sewed them while I watched tv. I found the templates at Moxy Ideas.

This is a good project I can do when I am not in the mood to think and use up my scraps. Then when I have enough, I can figure out how to make them into a quilt;) I have yardage of fun and brights that I put away that would work good as a filler for when I get enough.

I agree--hexagons are a lot of fun. I like to applique them on background squares.

These are lovely. They look like the makings of a warm and cozy heirloom quilt.

Its always good to have something to sew by hand...rather a meditative sort of activity...machine work can seem rather frantic by comparison! I think the lovely gentle colours you have in those hexagons look great against the golden brown floor...that sort of colour background might make a beautiful antique looking quilt?!
