Playing is a slippery slope!!

It all started with some fabric dyes and a sunny day. I mixed, measured, slopped, poured, scrunched, squeezed and rinsed. Before I knew it, I had this ........................ yummy yummy stack of pretties! Then I thought to myself, just cut some strips off each one and play around a little bit.
My pile of strips became a pile of rectangles which became a pile of trapezoids (heh, heh, I used google to make sure I had the right term), which became long strips of wonky seams.

So I did this. But playtime wasn't over yet, I was sliding down that slope and couldn't stop. I played around my bookshelf and opened up Judy Laquidara's book, Weekend Quilts to get border ideas.
And that's when this happened! I still have three sides to go but it's been lots of fun.
This quilt started with no plans at all, just a desire to play around. No planning ahead, just following my whim. We never get too old to enjoy unstructured playtime. Have a great week!

I have never done hand dying....your colors are just delicious.........how long did this really take? How hard was it to cut into the fabric after all that work?

I'm really impressed with the quilt you created.

Happy sewing

I dyed some fabric last fall but haven't had the heart to cut into it. I think you've encouraged me to DO IT!
