New and playing!

Hello there, I'm Peggy.  I'm new and have been trying to find the balance of work and life! :)  I'm not sure of exactly what kind of blocks but this is what I have started: braiding.  I have a whole bag of scrap, box of scraps, etc.

My blog is:  http://pegsplace.wordpress.com/

Never heard of braiding, but I'm a newbie to the quilting world. It sure looks nice!

Jump in and PLAY! It will do you good, but if you want to change that, start tossing in restrictions and complain about how it is not looking right. The solution to those bad things is to CUT it up and ADD strange pieces to it!

LOL. Just have fun!

Options: Think where else the braids can lead you.. Add the "what if's"
try making fabric to make the braided pieces out of.... Try cut, sew, cut again... Think about what else you can do between
the braids to start you on a course with out the pattern maker...
Mixing colors, monochrome, contrast, adding brights, darks etc.... Many differnt ideas to try.... Keep playing!

Thanks for the motivation! As I was doing the cutting and started sewing I told myself that I am going to break the braid rules! :)....

Welcome Miss Peggy, this is something new and fun, I lok forward to seeing what you make. If you have time, come over to my Blog and see a similar idea in the chevron quilt that my friend Silve made.

Hi Kath, the chevron seems similar! I like the idea of playing with the widths. I am in a French part of Canada and I translated what my quilt guild member gave me into "Braid." So, maybe the real word is chevron. So many ideas!

I love the neat look of your braid. Am wondering what would happen if the width was varied. Would you get a curly pigtail?
