Tree Skirt

I made a bunch of strip sets out of some fat quarters I've had for a number of years. Never knew what to do with the fabric because it frayed rather easily but then I thought.....how often do you wash a tree skirt?

I sewed them down onto batting and backing cut into the shape of a tree skirt.
This photo was taken before I "finished" it.

Here's the "finished" project in place. This photo doesn't do the fabric justice. Haven't quilted it or put on the binding yet (that probably won't get done before Saturday) but I'm happy for the progress I've made. Merry Christmas!

That is really pretty! I have some lame's that I have never know what to use in, except a Christmas stocking. I love this idea!

That is a great idea and the fabrics are so beautiful...are they silk?

Beautiful fabrics & simple blocks & oh so lovely around your tree!

Thanks for the encouragement! They are supposed to be 100% cotton but they certainly don't have the feel of cotton to me.

Cindy, this is just beautiful! I love how it looks sort of interwoven, and of course the sheen is lovely - and will look nice with the glow of the lights. Merry Christmas!

What terrific serendipity. Finding unfinished projects can be such a marvelous thing. You made a lovely, sparkly tree skirt.
