Hi all. I'm working on an old-fashioned "string" quilt, inspired by the wonderful collection of old quilts featured in Gwen Marston's book, Liberated String Quilts.
For the February Scrap Bee, I want you all to make 6-1/2" squares out of FIVE PIECES OR LESS. Why five pieces? I just like the look of larger hunks of fabric. Plus, my birthday is on the 5th of the month, and I was born in 1955.
You can make them with telephone book paper or without. Make sure there are angles, bright colors and contrast. If you have any turquoise or bright yellow scraps, throw in a few of those. I'd like four to six blocks. Heck, maybe five would be a good number! Thank you!!

That looks so great. The black and the high contrast does it !!!Love it!
Sounds like fun!
Excellent block Nifty! Five large pieces or less, with angles, brights, contrast and turquoise or yellow if we have it...time to dig through that scrap basket!
How fun!! Can't wait to get started!
Ooooh, I love this type of string quilt! This is going to be great!
Great string blocks, Nifty!
I spy my chicken wire again.
( :-))
That looks like fun and I almost rushed away to start making them...until I realised that they are for the other bee and I am awaiting Sujata's instructions!!!
I'm going to start one of these today! No matter that I have two tops in the works already. I have to balance out all those quilters who are finishing UFOs for the new year.
Your quilt blocks are beautiful!
I am so all over this!

I've read your instructions twice.
I'm ready to go, BUT then I remembered this is for FEBRUARY!
Guess I'll keep working on a UFO for another week. Then I'll be right on it!
