miki

A couple of years ago, during a local shop hop, I discovered the Tranquility line of fabric by Moda designed by Sandy Gervais. I fell in love with the colors and patterns. I bought a cake and some 1/2 yard pieces. I made a gift quilt using the cake. I still have most of the yardage. It is still my favorite fabric. I decided to start the center block for my intuition quilt by building some fabric using some of this fabric and some others that worked with it. That is the upper left of the block.

I really like orange and purple together, so I decided to dig through the stash to find purples to go with the oranges, golds, and greens. Then, I decided I wanted to add some flying geese. I really like the way they look. I didn't use light enough fabric in the flying geese, but I like the colors anyway. After the flying geese, I created a wonky house with a hidden door. I also really like stars, even though all mine seem to be a bit wonky. I built one of those to add. After I had all these pieces, I built more fabric to connect each of these elements.
As I look at the center, I feel good about where this quilt is headed. I envision borders of flying geese, wonky stars, wonky log cabin, houses, and more. The only thing I don't really like is the wide purple strip in the upper left section. I may have to do something about that.

I love it! Don't hate on that purple yet, work with it... It's a good dark and may come in handy as it grows... it's bold and beautiful!

Love the color combination. I like the fact that those flying geese are subtle. Makes you look into the quilt. Can't wait to see what's next.
