PLAY!: chapter 1, scene 2

I was in hockey mom mode this weekend, and had to travel for DD Lily's games; I had a small hooking project that traveled well, but I had to wait until Sunday to get started on my first scrap block. (DH Craig wonders why I'm starting something new, when I have a trunkful of UFO's to finish!)

Although I'd started with the idea of monochromatic blocks, when I chose this fabric
I didn't have many other purple fabrics to use, so I just gathered a few colors that I thought complimented each other
I think it needs another light value...

   maybe this combo?
Nope, too much beige in that blue print....maybe this one?

Nope, don't like the white on that print...

not this one, either - too dark?

This is the one I like best...spent way more than 15 minutes trying to decide what fabrics to use. I must try not to overthink things (as Victoria suggested); now, to figure out what I want to do with them!

Shine on!

You are still not allowed to think... You need to build your fabric first.. make big pieces, let the fabric tell you what they need to be come... the idea here is to not have a plan, but make something, a bunch of them, then decide what the next step is, (not a a whole quilt) just the next step, do I make them stars? do I cut them and make them triangles do i want to add stuff intuitively, do I want to make them into 9 patches, etc, then you move onto the next thing, OK, now what do i do, and so forth... don't cross the bridge until it is laid out in front of you... You might miss a great idea along the way, you need to be open to ideas for a quilt to grow that is truly and uniquely you. don't make the same quilt you've made before...
