Playing with Pastels

Pastel is not a word usually found in my fiber vocabulary, but perhaps because of warmer weather and longer sunny days, Easter-y colors seemed right.  I started with scraps that I sewed into strata and triangles and squares.  Then I created this 8" square block which was rather uninteresting in my opinion.
So I followed the challenge instructions to cut the 8" square and play with it.
So I kept adding strips to the middle, tops & sides of the pieces and got this 12" block:
I really like taking the fabric scraps and composing them into specific sized squares.  So much so, that I created 5 more in that manner.  I am kind of new at this quilting thing and it is amazing how squaring a block up can really help one see it better!
They are currently laid out on a white sheet to see if I want to put white between the blocks, or try something else.  I am loving this so far!  Who knew pastels could be so great?!

I love this play with pastels, but what strikes me as interesting is that you are just going along as if taking a walk. Cool, beautiful and I think I'm going to follow you.

I, too, generally work on the darker colores. But when I made my dotty/stripes/plaid blocks , the pastels were so pretty that I wanted a whole quilt out of them!!!

Your instincts for color and play are great. These are quite beautiful. I may have to look for some pastels in my stash.
