Need some help.....kinda stuck :)

Ok, so I'm working on my 12x12 for the swap (it's my first so I'm soooo excited!) and since I'm new I'm feeling a bit under qualified after seeing all of yours ;)

So I started here...

then added some and cut and added some more....
 and some more...
but now what? I feel like the pieces are to big but I don't have a ton of scraps so I don't have more many more options other than just chopping and sewing some more?!? Any ideas?

chop and sew chop and sew... randomly cut a bunch up , and just play! see what happens! You started WITH something... You need NOTHING to get your creative juices flowing... and to get you to stop thinking so hard....just cut, sew, cut sew, then look, and see what inspires you as you go.

It looks like you are off to a fun & summery start! Keep playing- have fun- I'm excited to see what happens!

Cut down the middle, from top to bottom and across the middle from side to side. Rotate each piece, put them together and you'll have a whole new look! I love the red, white & blue!

You have such great fabrics....stars, flags, baseballs, houses with puffy clouds....all in red, white, and blue. Can't go wrong with these!

And I like the green with the red/white/blue fabrics. I would never have thought of that!

You need to zen.......

you can do it.. sew it all together, iron it flat, step away from it a foot or two, turn it, then grab the rotary cutter, make two diagonal cuts (4 triangles) reposition them and resew.
GO FOR IT! the fabrics are great!

Enjoy the process. Cut, sew, keep asking yourself, "What if I . . .?" This is going to be great.

It does help, I find, to take a break from the project when you're feeling stuck. Go do something else or sew something else and then you'll be able to see it with fresh eyes and maybe have new ideas for the next step. Good luck - you've got a good start!
