Still Playing Around

On Friday I posted my first attempt at making fabric.  It was a fun start, but after looking at what everyone else is doing, I knew I wanted to do more.  So I completed two pieces about 12 x 12 each.   I didn't really love them yet, so I slashed them into four 6" pieces like this:
That was starting to get interesting but I didn't know what to do with them yet.   So I slashed one up again into 3" squares:

Now it was starting to be fun!  So I slashed them all!

I really loved the individual little pieces and all the different proportions of color in each..almost like Inchies,  but now what?  For some reason the old nine-patch seems to have a grip on me.  So I started putting them back together again with some black squares:
I have enough pieces to make 9 of these nine-patches.  I think I'll sash them all back together again in one big square, with orange between the squares... or maybe more yellow?  Any thoughts?

I totally love these colors. This is going to be a great quilt. I think I would go with yellow, but orange would be pretty great as well. Can't wait to see where you go with this. Once you get the 9 patches together, are you going to add borders?

Those are looking great! Make sure to play with them some more before you sew them all together! Ask what if... you use orange AND yellow sashing? Set them on point? Make made fabric setting blocks? Or...??? Have fun!

You really know how to play! Your blocks are adorable - and definitely one of a kind too.

Love the black mixed in. Maybe the black needs to be broken up a bit? Looking forward to seeing the end result.

Thanks for all the nice compliments. I don't know what I will do next... I was thinking of setting the nine patch blocks into an even bigger nine-patch alternating with..... something! I guess I'll just see what happens.

I love your little blocks, each one it's own unique vignette.
