Monthly Blocks

Edited:  Sorry you couldn't see the pictures. I think I fixed the problem. thank you Miki for coming to my blog and letting me know I had a problem over here.

I decided to jump in and do the blocks of the month.  I am going to do them in my batik scraps and below is the May block.  I absolutely love the look of this block and that is what got me to decide to do this challenge.  As everyone has posted them on the blog, I have fallen in love with the look of this block, more and more and that was not an easy thing to do since I fell in love with the original block to begin with.  My version, like I already said is with batik made fabric and a medium light gray batik background.

Since I already had the fabrics out, I went ahead and made the June block.  In the picture below, the block hasn't been squared yet, so please ignore my mismatched edges.  I had some difficulty with this one due to the fact that I sewed a couple of the piece together wrong and then had to figure out how I was going to fix it since I didn't have any pieces large enough of the gray left.  I could have pieced the background, but really didn't want to do that with all the piecing in the made fabric.

Below are the two blocks side by side on my wall.  This is going to be a striking quilt. I can't wait to see what the rest of the blocks will be.

The more I look at the May block, the more I might have to make an entire quilt with just that block.  I can't get over how much it calls to me.
