Sandy's Bee Block for July

It was fun to have six months to think about what kind of bee blocks I want to receive in July.  Watching the creativity of each of my predecessors made it even more interesting.  Everyone in the 15 Minutes Play group is so creative!  This is what I came up with.

I decided to go ahead and post this a little early.  We are in the process of moving from St. Louis, MO to Huntsville, AL during the next 8 days so things are getting a little crazy around here.  Please don't mail them just yet, though, so they go directly to the new address.  I have emailed each of you with my new address effective July 1st.

First, make some neutral fabric - roughly 13" square.

Don't be afraid to use the backs of other colors - sometimes they make great neutrals.  I actually used a yellow, and a few tans and they look great.  (Here's the back of the block so you can see them.)

Then, make some monochromatic fabric, any color family, the same size (roughly) as the neutral. It doesn't have to be a true monochromatic, just so it reads as though it is.  There are a few splashes of other colors in mine.  

Layer one of the blocks on top of the other block, and using a ruler, cut a section from the middle.  

Take the center section from the top block and swap it out for the center section of the bottom block.  Sew the blocks back together.  Trim to straighten the edges. If you don't want to trim, that's okay, too.  Mine did not turn out to be the exact same size so don't worry about it if yours don't.  I am not looking for perfect squares.

I am really looking forward to receiving my blocks in July.  What a nice housewarming present to me!
