One of the great things about this blog is it encourages you to play. So just for the fun of sewing I set out to make Miki's Square in a Star and make it from pale blues and pale apricots. I also wanted to make fabric by both piecing and applique and I wanted some curves. I started off with blues. Too boring. And how did that bit of bright orange get in there?

I then made quite a few triangles with more interesting combinations of made fabric. You can see the appliqued pieces. I made the middle square and as I was setting out to make the rest, it landed on the blue circle fabric and looked just right.

So I made a little mat instead.

Thanks, Miki, for the great instructions.

Sweet! Love the colors!
I love this. It has some optical illusion qualities that make me want to look at it over and over again.
