I love the idea of making fabric for the background on an applique quilt. I had a wonderful time piecing away, figuring out how to make the red in the corner pop up into the light background. The next step is to applique some flowers and maybe stems. I might embroider the stems. Only the quilt knows what is ahead.

I love seeing this process of making a quilt. Only the quilt knows what will happen next! - that's one of the great things about making quilts this way. The red design is glowing against the pale subtle background.
