Thinking outside the square...
I randomly started sewing from a big bag of xmas scraps that I have,
and the more I worked it, the ROUNDER my piece became... This is now a 13'' circle...
Now what?
How I can I use that as a starting point to something outside my normal quilting routine?
How can I take advantage of looking at this with new eyes?
Will it be a whole quilt? Will it be a whole bunch of circles?
Can I add to this to make it a medallion? Will I keep growing it this way?
What do you see?
Personal challenge for this week
TAKE 15 minutes this week to
play with a CIRCLE and show me what you come up with.
Think the questions like a creative stream of conscious... 'What if if......''
and tell us all what goes through your mind during the process.. take pics... share with us!
I'll also post what I come up with... go play!

I have been thinking about doing something like this for an AAQI quilt. I will try amd make some time for it this week.
I cut a circle pattern from a magazine cover...the pattern turned into a flower shape. I drew it on some striped fabric and cut around it 1/4" Then I put right sides together on the pieced piece. I sewed all around the edges on the line, trimmed and clipped the edges so it would turn well. I cut a lit in the striped fabric (backing) and turned it right sides out. It was surely missing something, so I made a yo-yo of purple and put that in the center with an old white button. Still missing something. I quilted around the shapes in all the patches. Looked better, but should have used a different color than white. Better. Tomorrow I may add some green petals to it. My wonky flower is about 5". I might make more and put them n a small wallhanging with black blanket stitch.
Or not.
I have been fascinated with spirals lately, so I will ponder this today....
Nancy, we'd love to see it... email me your post...
This would look nice as an insert on the front of a bag.
Wish I could get my photos from the camera to the computer. Not savy yet. My camera buddy is out of town. Will keep it mind to get some photos and send in acouple of weeks...maybe the project will have grown???
One can only hope... :o)
