Isn't mauve wonderful!

I am visiting my sister-in-law in Virginia, and we had quite a discussion about what mauve really is.  We looked online at the Crayola site and they have no crayon called mauve.  Then I looked on the Pantone site, and found mauve to look quite a bit like this.  The color on Wikipedia is also similar.  My SIL was kind enough to let me have a piece of this to use.
I traveled with my small box of my favorite scraps, and decided to pull them out to see if they would play nicely, and they did.

There was a little bit of the turquoise in the box, but I had a bigger piece I bought in Annapolis the other day.  I thought it would make a great compliment.  Currently, I am prone to thinking that orange goes with just about anything, so I had to use that. I think I am going to use this format for making my blocks in this series.  I have always liked looking at small complex works framed by chunky frames.  I included the mauve in the center piece of made fabric, as well.
I am looking forward to seeing what other colors Victoria has up her sleeves.

This is lovely. I like the idea of framing a complex square with a large piece of The Colour, it is very effective. I agree with you that orange enhances just about anything.

I like the wide border around the center too, it really sets off the made fabric.

I adore this block with the wide border and your color choices of turquoise and orange with the mauve. Inspiring.

Love the wide border and the blue hits... Would never have thought of turquoise but it looks fantastic with mauve!
