As Jed Bartlet would say "What's next?".
Colour Report - Mauve
What did I think of this colour at the start?
Thought it was a pretty colour. It reminded me of Laura Ashley days in the 70’s and the pretty subdued colours she used. I used a lot of her fabrics making many, many hexagons.
What fabrics go with this colour?
White and blue would go, also silver, but I thought this was too easy. Tried greens, blues and reds. If pushed it seemed to lean to reds and a very few greens.
What fabrics don’t go with this colour?
I had a hard time finding anything to go with it at first, but it got more sociable as I continued. It didn’t like blues or yellows.
Do I like this colour better or less after working with it?
I found it quite interesting, let’s put it that way, and working with it brought out more possibilities as I did some selecting and piecing.
Will it inspire a new palette?
Maybe not – there are too many other interesting fabrics and colours around just now.
Deep Stash is an interesting place.
Am learning much about mauve ... and actually like it in your block!
Thanks, Margaret. Hope you manage to find time to do some of these colour games.
Love you post! I love the idea of releaving our "COLOR baggage"... We sometimes carry "old feelings" or "color baggage" to certain colors and avoid them, but once we let that go and focus on a color individually, amazing things can happen and you can see them in a new light! Your POPS of RED bring this color UP TO DATE! well done!
Your greens make this look like a cottage garden with glorious bursts of colour.
I really like your block, and your written reflection on your mauve experience. I brought my favorite box of scraps with me on vacation, found a mauve piece in Willa's stash, and have been playing for a little while. I may try and put something together tomorrow.
fun thoughts on my least favorite color.. and imagine finding new fabrics in Mauve!
"Deep Stash" is it a place, a planet or a state of mind???
