I found the above Kaffe Fassett fabric in my stash and selected the other fabrics to use as contrast in the block. I had chosen another piece - the lime green which features below but unfortunately it was MIA when I was taking the above image. I sew down stairs in my basement but generally take photos in my conservatory upstairs. I meant to take a photo of this made fabric piece before I cut it up again but had already cut it before I remembered. I am liking this colour combination much better than the mauve one.
I made another mauve block as I had used my previous blocks to make another quilt top.
I have decided to use black and white to set my fabrics after seeing The Thimblemouse of Country Crossroads 's posts. Her blocks are gorgeous. I think this black and white fabric might be a bit heavy for this block but I will see how it fits with the others once they are made.

Maree I absolutely LOVE your blocks! You made me smile today (and I needed that) to think in some small way I could be an inspiration :)
I think once all are done, you will find the mauve block fitting in quite nicely - I don't think the bw fab is too heavy - then again, I love Everything that is BW!
I had tried to make black and white work unsuccessfully. Seeing your success inspired me to go back and try again. Thanks so much!
I really like these blocks.
