ORANGE AND LIME

Bright Orange. With beautiful fabrics like these how could it go wrong?

I've tried hexagons before with made fabric and it didn't work then either.
However, there were a few bits I liked in the hexagon above, so I tried again. This little square below is going to become a mat, but it's having a little rest just now while it decides just what colour of border it likes. (It's tried quite a few so far).

Colour Report – Orange

What did I think of this colour at the start?
Loved it.
What fabrics go with this colour?
Before - anything really – but maybe not black.
What fabrics don’t go with this colour?
Black, unless it’s Halloween, and now I’m wondering about Lime.
Do I like this colour better or less after working with it?
Like it less at the moment, after a few slight battles, but we’ll become friends again soon.
Will it inspire a new palette?
I’m a bit off Orange at the moment, especially Bright Orange. It’s rained here constantly for days and is dim and dismal, so maybe Bright Orange is too bright a colour for here, now.

Funny how the colours you dislike (hello Yellow) can inspire a good piece while my old friend Orange proved difficult. However, now it's up on the screen, and not in the sewing machine, I like it a lot better.

I, too, have felt frustrated with a color I like (yellow). I feel your pain and, too, wondered why. What you made is beautiful. I am hoping my orange will be as wonderful as yours.

Like almost everyone else, I like your hexagon , , , but what you need is border ideas . . . see that little lavender bud and the soft gold/caramel color around it. I'm thinking that would be great around the whole piece as a narrow border. Then you could go any number of ways with the outside border. How about deep pink or bright pink or coral, like the flower in the piece that is centered on the top? You'll find something great I'm sure.

WOW, Sheila! Plum, lime and orange... what a stunning combo! Love your hexie also, but understand that would be difficult to finish. Can't wait to see your mat when you've finished.

I hope you have reconsidered your feelings about these pieces. These colors present quite a dramatic and exciting look. There is a deep richness about them that is very satisfying and elegant. You have a wonderful sense of color play and I look forward to seeing what you come up with each week.
