peaches, raspberries and chips

Peach sounds so innocent - somehow 15 minutes of play turned into 6 days of struggle.

First, I determined I didn't have any peach.  So I went in search of peach.  One clerk helped by pulling out swatches from manufacturers.  The first manufacturer didn't have any peach!  The second had three: peach, light peach and old peach.  So I chose one fat quarter that the clerk and I agreed was peach.

From the beginning I had a vision of peaches and dark rich hummusy browns, but I didn't have have browns that matched my vision.  I did put together the above materials.  I am not sure what made me unhappy about that combination (which now looks great to me).  Maybe too many colors: light and dark green, and brown with purple compared with my other challenge pieces?  If I ever find the peach again, I will do that as, now, it looks just fine.

Then I tried numerous combinations with blues, greens, black and white and never was happy.  Finally I saw Sheila's block and realized I hadn't tried raspberry which I really liked in her square.  So I pulled out a raspberry fabric and liked it but wanted another fabric.  By this time I was hooked on the eating theme and so I got some of my favorite potato chip scraps.  I played with those fabrics and decided I needed more peachy fabrics, so last night I trekked off again and found the fun peach that is on the left and the bottom of the piece.

Below is what I ended up with.  It's much lighter than my other challenges pieces and not as dynamic. I will try again.  I think I played too little this week and thought too much - lesson learned!  I have come to really like peach and will redo this color challenge some week.

I agree that this was a tough one! I also did not have peach in my stash. I've been to the fabric store & I'm working on my made fabric. Mine is turning out lighter than the rest, too. I actually like the block you made. Let it rest awhile and go back to look again. :)

I agree that these look great together - it almost looks like a word in some very cool alphabet!

I love how these blocks are "off-the-wall" and you keep looking at them to try to figure them out. These four look great together, unusual colours and designs.

When I first saw these together, I thought they spelled "LOVE" but maybe I was influenced by all those foods you mentioned..(peach, raspberry, hummus,& chips are all favorites of mine, too)

I like the colors you chose for this one. I had trouble with this color. I have had so much fun watching your pieces on this site. Your series is quite wonderful.
