Kelly Green

Here are the fabrics I chose to do the kelly green block.
I have a lot of green in my stash, so this was pretty easy to find.
My pick for the kelly is in the upper left of the photo.

I used the fabric in the upper right to pick the companion colors.
Here is the made fabric:

And here is the block:

And the complete set:

I like this setting because of the stars at the intersections of the four blocks and the middle, but I don't like the 4 big on point open areas, so I will probably look for another solution. I suppose I could just make some fabric and set it in those areas, like a square in a square, maybe?

I don't mind the four on point blanks. They will be a bit smaller once the seams go in. I wouldn't do much more than maybe tip the corner with a small piece to make a square where they meet, if that.

I really like how they lay out. The more you look at the piece the more you see, and you eventaully see the four larger quadrants.

I like the over all look of this piece. And I LOVE the screaming yellow! LOL

It's a great place to try some gun new quilting or embroidery or appliqué! Something new and fun to try?

I was thinking the same as Glen, what about adding a bit of fabric on the corners where these blocks come together to create a square? It really doesn't bother me to leave them blank either.

looking good. Yeah some quilting in that area is nice. or even applique if it bothers you. or rearrange the blocks and see something else. that's what's fun about play.

Great finish, Jane. I like the four star blocks in the corners too. As Glen says the yellow squares will become smaller when you seam the block together, or the other idea from sewyouquilt2 of trying another layout would be good fun to see. This interchange of ideas is one of the many things I love about our 15 minutes play blog.

I happen to like those open on point areas. Very strong.... like your background!

I love your blocks and that background color is ballsy in the best possible way!
