Working Smart

first I make a block

Left side of the block made yesterday.  Today I trimmed and then added onto the right side of the block.
I trimmed to 12 1/2" and had usable leftovers.

added a few other off cuts, the far left and right fabrics. I stopped stitching and took some time to think (and hang up sheets). My conclusion is using the trimmed off sections as they were stitched together has at least two advantages.
The subtle repeat will help to hold the quilt together visually.
I already had half a block stitched.

As my DD#2 says "same same but different". Works for me.

I have been doing this too! It gives you a nice "head start" on the next block. Great minds think alike. Hehehe

How cool is that?!? I did the very same thing yesterday. I save EVERY off cut and sewed it to another little bit until I had a piece big enough to make a bag...which I'll do in FL. None - well maybe all - of my fabrics 'went' together...but because of the worked!
