SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!

I chopped off the top of the teatowel at my son's suggestion (too much open space) and added lettuce, bluebrrerries, corn, and tomatoes!  Crab, corn and "August" tomatoes (lush, vine-ripened) - summer in DELMARVA (Delaware, Maryland and Virginia)! My favorite foods!!

Is this finished? It's 31"x31"; a wall hanging? Should it be larger to be a picnic quilt?

I want to keep the focus on the idea of crabs (my favorite food).  I tried adding cucumbers; the color in the photo is washed out but the clarity of the cucumbers goes well with the other colors.  I also considered the blue batik with small "bubbles".

I also considered some beachy fabrics which just didn't seem right.

I am ready to leave it on the design wall for a while.  I would appreiciate any suggestions.

Leave it on your wall, walk by it,think about your options... let it percolate... You will need to trust your gut when it's done! Love those crabs! Now I want summer really bad.... ;-)

Mmmm...I recall many delicious crab feasts at Robertson's at Pope Creek in DelMarVa. May not be there still, but the memories linger on. Food memories are a great focus!

Route 13 from Norfolk (ok, Chick's Beach) to Dover then to Route 1, etc. every couple of months to visit my inlaws. There is nothing like the Eastern Shore. I love the crabs & summer produce vibe of your quilt. We need to find you some Old Bay fabric.

I love your idea about Old Bay! I emailed the company after looking online unsuccessfully (I did find some with lobster and Old Bay but I don't care for lobster so that doesn't work). If I can't any OB fabric I will look into printing it myself. Thanks again for a fabulous idea.

I love where this is going. I think it should grow. OB fabric would be perfect. Try making some on Spoonflower if you can't find some already made. I always like a good sourdough roll with my crab boil.

I love the theme of your quilt and the fabrics that you are auditioning - especially the cucumbers and the crabs! I would definately echo the crab somewhere else in the quilt even if it was just one in a cornerstone.

Fun! Love that other crab fabric, maybe it will be a better fit once a few other things have been added? or use on the back?
