Play Day...Sending Florida Sunshine

It's actually raining kittens and pups as I write...actually more like a monsoon...we will need a boat or a float to get home. I have a list of 97 things I should be working on but sometimes you just need a play day. Last night I read a post from Ms.V asking for more anvil blocks for the cancer quilts she so lovingly puts together when the need arises. How I wish there were no need for these blocks...but there is....*sigh*... and I'm just happy I can help in some small way.

I decided to send some Florida sunshine...dug into the top layer of my scraps...and came up with this
(the colors are much brighter in person...it must be the rain)
I was thrilled to find that one lone strip of blue for the background...
just the perfect size...
perfect!

So I marked and stitched and made the HST and trimmed.
I usually trim with scissors...but feeling especially playful today I thought I would live on the edge and use my rotary cutter....
so much for being wild....

And to make life even more special
I discovered...that "perfect" piece of blue?...
was also the "lone" piece of that fab....
All I had left was just a little strip....
But I made it work! Yey me!

After the "fist pumping-saved it" happy dance....
I remembered....
I still need two corners of blue.
There is no more....
So excuse me a while....I'm going to take a little walk outside in the rain.....
with luck there will be hail...maybe even a strong wind....

I really like the fabric. I've got scraps but I haven't tried playing with them like this yet.
