Triangles Mini Progress - Border Audition

I've got the center of the mini quilt pieced. It will finish about 71/2 inches tall and 7 inches wide.

Here is the inspiration quilt image from the Amish Abstractions book:

Sorry for the glare; the page is very shiny.  I want to do a wide border so that I have some room for quilting, so I will add 2.5" finished borders all around. Here are the choices that I am considering:

The black would be like the original. I also like the deep purple. Or how about this?

(Suggested by my DH!)
I am completely undecided. What do you think?

If it were me, I'd go with one of the darker colours. That way the border frames and allows the centre lights to 'shine', rather than dominates and grabs the attention for itself. HTH with your decision process :)

I like the purple but black is nice too. What about a yellow binding?

I agree with the rest of them -- it needs a dark border. the yellow one takes away from the triangles in the middle.

I like V's idea - but I'd go for a wider border. Have fun!

I like the black and purple with unequal width borders...pretty much as it looks in the photo. Do I see a little light purple strip in the lower left or is that selvage?

Purple, and I'm not normally a purple person.

very skinny yellow stop border with wide purple outer? Would need to try it to see how it plays, but it could be an option. Otherwise, go with the purple.

Beautiful!! I like a darker border too. Like the idea of black and purple. Can't wait to see where you go.

I like both the black and purple together although I would try that pumpkiny cheddar color as a thin frame before the borders!

How beautiful! I like the combination of the purple and black. Why not use both?
