At Last - New York Blooms

Last year I took part in a scrap exchange organised by Victoria and my swap partner was Helen in  New York. Below is the result (forgive the bad photography)

Helen sent me a super collection of scraps and amongst them was the subway fabric which features prominently in the quilt above. As this was being put together I posted at regular intervals with my progress and wrote that I would possibly just about have enough of the fabric to complete my border. Helen so very, very kindly sent me another yard of the fabric!

The photo really doesn't show the colours off to their best but I need to totally reorganise my sewing studio  then I can stop having to twist around my large cutting table to take shots of the design wall, when I have cleared the three small pieces I'm working on for an exhibition I will get on to it.  I have to say how I envy the amazing new studio being used by Victoria, amazing place!

I really enjoyed making NY Blooms and I have a few more blocks to complete for Fruit Salad and then I can post a pic of that.
Happy Quilting

New Yorkers have been battered by winter this year. More snow and cold temps are coming at us again this week, but your quilt gives us hope that we shall indeed bloom again. Thanks, Maureen!

What a delightful quilt. I know you call it NY Blooms but I see the flowers you love (and photograph) so well here.

Thanks ladies for your kind comments - NY Blooms is presently in a small exhibition of paintings by my husband and a few of my small pieces and Sari Silk work. Lots of comments on the Subway fabric!!
