Nancy's finish!

I wanted to send you these pics of my finished quilt using your teaching as a spring board.
I am sending you a photo, and one close up of the quilt I completed.  It is about 50 x 65 inches.
I wanted to make a quilt for my daughters friends newborn.  Her mom (the mother of the new borns mom) is very ill.  Her grandmother passes away not long ago, and I felt really compelled to make Ihelan a quilt as I know she will never have one from either grandma or great grandma.
I thought of Ihelan and her mom a lot while making this, They are blond and blue eyed kind of nordic looking.  I knew I wanted to use all different shades of whites with sparks of colors throughout the quilt.  I started using the made fabrics inspired by your class (loved your class)  that you gave at Pieceful Quilting in North Port last spring. Making each section block 16 x16 inches putting them on my design wall and then deciding where to go from there.  I decided to surround the large blocks with a grid and then picked out the light baby blue boarder and extended rectangles of color to break it up and integrate with the rest of the quilt.  I also used this on the binding.  the back is a sweet floral print. I did freemotion doodling to quilt it.  I love to do that.  sort of stream of conscience drawing.  I even put a hand stitched label in the back.  So I am pleased to share it with you.
I am also working on a much bigger quilt with very saturated color. (no white)
It is on my design wall.  I love the concept that I learned from you.  It makes this whole process an adventure. ~Nancy B

That is an exceptional quilt! The addition of large amounts of whites and lights take the beauty of the made fabric in a whole new direction...
