Scrappy blocks with plain sashing

Hello again ladies, I thought you might like to see my friend Silve's scrappy quilt, made the same way as my "kitchen table" quilt. Silve decided to break up the riot of colour by using plain sashing in between the blocks, which were set in 4's.
In this photo it is up on her design wall, waiting for the borders.
Silve made the blocks in spare moments between other sewing projects, so I think she qualifies as a 15 minute player, don't you?

Inspired by the Kitchen Sink

Some time back, Miss Victoria showed an amazing creation taking shape on her Blog, called the "kitchen sink quilt".
I was very much inspired to grab all my scraps and "have a go". Time went by and I never made a start and it wasn't until I attended a scrap quilt class, that I really took the time to sit down to play!
At first all the ladies at the class said they found it hard to "throw away the rule book", but very soon, we were joining bits of fabric with whoops of pleasure and abandon.
I couldn't wait to amass a large enough number of blocks to join together and set my machine up on the kitchen table, so I could make the odd block in between stirring the dinner :D

At first my blocks were rather tame, but soon, they got crumbier, as I got the hang of using the tiniest of scraps and even cutting up orphan and experimental blocks.

Here is my finished quilt. It was my first attempt at free motion quilting, the part that took the longest was making and hand stitching the scrappy binding.
I am really enjoying following this site and marvelling at all your colourful, fun creations.
