this was tough!
I started with this picture
then posterized it using Picnik, and photocopied it to black and white, which effectively reduced the number of colours to 5! Is this going to work???
I decided I was going to do it monochromatically, so pulled out my blue hand dyes, but soon realized my darkest was not going to be dark enough, so found a dark print that works. Copied it all to Heat'nBond lite, snip snipped away, and then laid it all out.
hmmmm.
pretty strange looking.
What if I get further away?
Better
now that looks better! I bet if I could get even further away it would look even better!(maybe even less like me!)
Time to stitch it all down and quilt it, which may take me a while yet, but It'll get done.
I am so glad I tried this - definitely was a challenge, and my left brain was having a hard time with it, but I persevered, and I'm quite happy with the result!

It is fascinating how different they look close up and far away. Great start!
I like the monochromatic look, will be a nice piece to hang on the wall for an art piece.
