more on 15

Where 15 can lead:

Awhile ago I made a some wavy strips playing with curvy waveruuner type lines,
and then I cut them apart into diamonds to play with to see how they would look as, "something else"  The pieces were cut the wrong size for stars, so last night I dug them out, and re cut them to make into these 8 point stars...

This is what I mean about playing with scraps ... Not just scraps, any block...
I work on about 10 quilts at a time... I don't have time to stop and start a new quilt, so when inspiration hits, or doesn't  hit for that matter, it gives me time to let my brain focus on something else... It gets the creative juices flowing...

Whether it's sewing the perfect block, or doing something you wouldn't normally do...
DO you always make PERFECT blocks?  loosen up.
DO you ever try to make a perfect block?  make one!
Never use solids? by some fat quarters...
Batiks? give them a whirl...

The idea of this site, is to give your self permission to PLAY.
Whatever PLAY is to you, maybe different to someone else...
I am trying to give you ideas to take and run with, and to enjoy where it leads you.
Doesn't have to be scrappy, just something new.

So, show me what you got!

Take your 15, I'll be here with a cup of coffee waiting!  ;-)

Any thoughts on this, below?
My Weekend scrapper quilt is now about 50" x 75" and I am trying to decide if I keep going to make it a twin size like this with no borders? ,
or add a BIG SCRAPPY border around the whole thing...
or maybe a whole load of small Half square triangles...
or just use up all the bits of fabric to finish it off...  or or or....
What are your thoughts?

these star blocks are so gorgeous! I love the combination of bright solids on the yellow background! I was thinking a solid border and then a scrappy border might look cool on your weekend scrapper quilt. Might be fun to use up all those bits.

Wow! Waht a dramatic combination! Gorgeous.

As for the Weekend Scrapper I have always liked borders, but that may be that I need to change my thinking about likes and dislikes.

glen: you always make me think!

Perfect size for a lap quilt! That's the size I make the most. I tend to lose interest after they get that big. We use them all winter, sitting around the living room.

I love the new star blocks! Small half sqaure triangles would look good on the weekend scrapper...but perhaps you feel like something different after the zillions you made for the star splitter?! Scrappy could look good too...or scrappy piano keys with plain scraps alternating? (Hey, let's see how much work we can think of for Victoria!)

Lovely stars! I vote for the lap quilt too. We use more quilts in our family room than on the beds.

I still want to see those Scrappy HST's as pinwheel blocks! Have you even tried that layout? I have no idea what I would do with them as they are in terms of borders, sorry.

much as I love the look, I would suggest adding even more color for a border. perhaps strips of color?

I like your Scrappy Weekend on the black(?) background. Have you considered using black ... perhaps with strips of the soft blue/green/peach?
