15 minutes and a bit of quiet

I'm taking a small amount of time each day to make one 12" X 12" block...
All based on looking out a window...

I was at Quaker Meeting for Worship, two Sundays ago,
and a man spoke about being in the silence and staring out the windows,
and wondering about his view of the trees...
How many trees where there, did that branch go that tree or the other tree,
how old is that tree etc...
Once he could quiet his mind, he realized it didn't matter.
We can just be in the now, not worry, and enjoy both "being", and being silent.

It was such a rather simple concept, and I haven't been able to let it go...

Separately, when my daughter was 2, she was rather quiet walking home from Montessori  class...
I said, "what's the matter Boo?, you're very quiet."  She said,
In that lovely two year old speech...
"I just look at the trees, mommy."

Another sort of "knock on the head" moment...

So these two thoughts collided and I decided I'd work on the views out my windows...
trees buildings and other wise...
Things that bring me to that quiet place. Where all things are OK, and grand just the way they are...
It gives me a little inner smile...

I thought I'd make a whole bunch of them and make it as a wall piece when I think I've made enough...

Quilting brings me easily to that quiet place... where all things are good.

Enjoy your day.

Isn't it wonderful to just 'be' without needing to be busy...amazing what children, quilting (and animals!) can teach us about enjoying the world. Love the new blocks btw!

Lovely blocks and reflections, V. I find that fall makes me especially reflective. It's nice. Enjoy the silence.

One of my favorite things to do is sit in silence and look out the window! That's why I had such a hard time sitting in a cubicle all day long - no windows. I adore these blocks! Makes me envy what you were seeing from your view. Cool idea for a quilt!

Great concept Victoria. You are off to a great start with these first two blocks. I just moved my laptop desk so that I can look out my window. I am hoping it will give me a better perspective ;-)
