PLAY DAY

Color combo's you never work with.
new fabrics, old fabrics
patterns and solids....

Different shapes...
Cut this way and that way...

I'm having a seriously fun play day...
Pastels are not something I work with very often....

Swapping scraps, and getting fabrics you'd never buy is a good way to jump start your scrap bin...

Digging out a color combo you would normally never choose, and work only from those scraps and see what happens....

Tell me what you could do to challenge your self,
then show me!

Let's all have some fun!

Those pastels are pretty..I tend to avoid them too...but now?! I've come away on holiday with a small box of bright scraps and four larger pieces of fabric...challenging myself to get going rather than ogle my stash!! However, weather is fantastic...but the wonderful Cornish coast is inspiring...and has given me ideas too! How about a blog scrap swap? Each person sending scraps to the next on the list...or something like that?

Those are really pretty blocks V! And what a challenge, I'm finding it difficult to think what I don't use or work with, I'll petty much work with anything! Perhaps Charlotte and I should swap scraps at least!

Oh Yeah! Pastels you say? I've got my grandmothers 30's, 40's pastel blocks in my aunt's cedar chest, waiting for inspiration. I never knew my grandmother, but I think that she might HATE it if I did something like this with her blocks. But then, I know that she was a wonderful, strong woman and just maybe, she might approve, were she around to see what her granddaughter is up to these days.

In the summer I love pastels, not so much in the cooler months. This is very very inspiring and I love the crosses you added in too. It gives a little edginess to it!

I'm with you on other people's scraps. Victoria sent me her scraps a year ago and I've had ever so much fun playing with them. they've pushed my colour sense and my sense of playfulness. thanks again! (my only hesitation about joining a scrap swap is that package postage in Canada is expensive compared to the US.)
