The Ring

This liberated wedding ring project got exciting when I realized that...

a fabric in my stash matches almost exactly with the wedding invitation... Obviously, this block I was playing around with was meant to be their wedding gift!

So I played around with some big triangles and yards of pieced piano keys... what worked, what didn't, a few ideas auditioned and scrapped....

Until I ended up with this. I want it to be a table runner OR a wall hanging... I don't know the couple very well so I feel this is safe-ish... what do you think? I fear it lacks a certain something.. movement... but maybe it's right. I keep wanting to put pointed ends on it then going in another direction. All good or keep playing?

Looks like plenty of movement to me. Go with your instinct to put pointed ends on it. How about a black tassle on each point? This is looking great!

Wow, "Nifty" and I must be kindred spirits because I had the same two comments! (jinks) I also love the idea of a table runner, then they are not expected to hang your creation on the wall all of the time. Great gift! and they will LOVE that it coordinates with their invites too!

LOVE it! It is good. It will be a good gift. She will love it. He will be indifferent. But if he is any sort of a husband to be he will nod approvingly and go watch a football game.

Nifty must be right - I thought points and tassles too!

Quilt Swissy, I am cracking up about football!

What a serendipitous find in that B&W print that coordinates with the invitation! For what it's worth, I vote for points and tassles too. The quilting may give the piece the movement you think it currently lacks.

i agree with the points & tassles idea, and maybe a contrasting solid binding in red, blue, or purple?
