First post

Hello from southern California!  I stumbled across this blog and fell in love with the concepts - I've been gradually working my way through different types of "scrapbusting" - from using up my strings, to using up the larger scraps, then the 1.5" squares, and now the tidbits.

Borrowing a tip from one of the tutorials, I made miniature monochrome squares from the tidbits, and then used solid colors and turned them into HST squares.  I'm not sure what I'll do next with them, but it was nice to get rid of a lot of tidbits.

I'm in a swap group - where each month belongs to a different person, and when it's your month, you pick a theme and everyone makes blocks for you. Sometimes I have difficulty remembering to read ALL of the theme.  Here's an example:  This month's "owner" asked for black, gray, white, and yellow, in fresh and modern. Well, I didn't read it all, and made this block:

Then, when I was going back over everything I re-read her request, and saw pictures of what some of the other gals had sent her, and realized I didn't do "fresh and modern." So, taking my cue from this blog, I did this:

Same colors, but definitely more "fresh and modern," right? And it was fun to make!

Welcome Cyndi, I'm sure you will have fun here, there are so many fresh ideas and talented stitchers. I like what you did already, the colours if your start are not ones I would ever have thought to combine, nice work! best wishes from England

I like the idea of mini squares all one color. It will be fun to see what they become. Actually, I really like the first block. I like the second one too, love how you did the middle of the block. I've been playing with star blocks like that a bit here and it's fun. But the first one is a good example of how fabrics change up a more traditional block.

Like both blocks & laughed about the before/after reading directions story. How mini are the tidbits? Cute! Pretty soon my only scraps will be slivers!

ooh! cute small squares! How about more 15 minutes around those with scraps? think about cool colors vs the warm colors, contrast, they are fabulous... keep playing!

Love the fresh, modern block. And I often fail to read the whole instructions, too! Too eager to get started sewing, I think. Welcome! Glad you found us.
