glen's Virtual Bee Blocks for December

This is so very exciting, my month finally got here. And while I lusted after V’s blocks and then after Leann’s blocks, I have come up with something new for you.

I had so many ideas running in my head it was difficult to decide which one I wanted to create. This was so hard to do because I love all my ideas. But single one out, I did.

I would like you to create a mono-color rectangle from your scraps. (Frank said I had to explain that, but you quilters know that it means all one color.) I would like At least two, one warm and one cool. You can use any size scraps, any shape scrap, and any colors within the delineation of warm and cool. They just need to be twice as long as they are wide. You are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE my idea. Yes, you will!

What is a warm or cool color? I am NOT an art major like so many of you lucky ones, but here is my take on the subject. Warm colors are based on yellows, oranges, browns, yellowish greens, orangish reds, hot reds and the like. Cool colors are based on blues, greens, purples, blue-greens and blue toned magentas.

Warm colors are vivid and energetic while cool colors are mellow and soothing. Cool colors rarely overpower a design while warm colors jump out at you and scream “HEY, LOOK AT ME!” (Cool colors say, “Hey, baby, want a foot rub?”

You can pretty much draw a line from the red-violet to the yellow-green and have cools on the left and warms on the right.

The other thing I learned about warm and cool is that the idea of warm and cool colors came about in the late 18th Century. Interesting. And that the association of color in astronomy is just the opposite of the artist’s color wheel. For instance, the hottest stars radiate blue light and the coolest radiate red.
Sew away, make that fabric sing! And I am hoping it will stay cool and won’t “rain” and spoil the fun by getting too warm! LOL.

glen: oh, this is so exciting……..wheeeeee, doggie!

Sorry, I have been busy the last two days, I am having surgery on Dec 2 and I am running around getting my body values done. Chest clear, heart good, blood red. That kind of stuff.

Any size! Maker's choice!

Well, that said..........not 1 inch!

glen: I know how devious quilters are......LOL
