After I started making them, I thought I would make a baby quilt, but then decided to keep going for a full size quilt for our guest bed. I had planned on setting them with solid red squares, and binding with a solid golden yellow... but as I neared the total number of blocks needed... I got bored with that plan.
Too square! Too many blocks!
I needed to jazz it up a bit, make it more "me," more distinctive...
The red was still working, and the idea of a yellow accent...
I love star quilts (I started a group for them on Flickr, it's an endless source of inspiration!), and I kept thinking about the great sawtooth blocks that were posted here a couple of weeks ago, so...
What do you think? They are 13" this way... I figure I will rotate them so the outer strips off set the blocks for more ***sparkle***!

They're great! If you set them on-point or wonky, they'll look as though they're spinning!
When I saw your block I said "ooh!" great job Alexis!
wow this is going to be a beautiful quilt!
Alexis, This block looks great. I know how you mean when the quilt just keep wanting to grow.
Yellow was definitely a great addition to the block!
This i what I mean about taking it to the next level, finding what works for you, and making something your own...Let the fabrics guide you...
