Still Life Roses I

I have always wanted to play around and make some roses.  So, in thinking about making a gift for a friend, she is a roses kind of lady, I made my "Still Life Roses I".  I am not sure I am going to actually give it to her or not - I have already chipped in on another gift so it's not like I am not giving her anything, but I am not totally sure the wonkiness of the roses will suit her style.  However, I like it and have the weekend to decide.

The roses were fun to make and it was a challenge to get them all together in the pot without overlapping each other - I pieced the roses, added the stems and background and then tried to put them together into the pot - very interesting and tricky to do.  There was a lot of cutting and frogging to get them to look "natural".  Thank goodness the background has a lot of texture, because up around the roses there is a lot of piecing going on there.

This is a really sweet picture. I know what you mean about someone maybe not liking it. I would love it!

I have those panic twinges, I am certain people won't want what I make. I am usually wrong, but there are a few who really would not like things like this.

glen: that is OK, I like it! LOL

luv this idea! my 2 yr old niece's new word is "fwow-wer" (flower) so this would be cute for a small doll quilt block too!
