I decided to keep the quilting simple, so I used a close-set almost-straight line quilting design, nothing elaborate.
This was a fun project to do, it made me s-t-r-e-t-c-h in a whole new direction! I had a number of solids in my stash, but I never deliberately set out to make them the main part of a project - a solid was just a no-never-mind part of my stash.
I was a little brain-fazzled when I started out because I honestly had no idea how to approach this project. But... it was after I realized I was to use the painting as an inspiration that my mind turned down another track. What a wild ride; thanks V for the challenge!

I made my hanging sleeve according to these instructions on the Alzheimers site, the first one.

It's great. I love it!
I still have to put a binding on the one I did.
I don't know how to make a way to hang it. I forget what it's called.
Any suggestions as to where t find out. Maybe there is a tutorial online somewhere.
This turned out great! I have my top done, trying to decide on the quilting, love what you did here.
BeeBee, I forgot to mention my hanging sleeve; I used the instruction here, the first one:

Wonderful quilt. I really love the movement that the wavy black and red lines and the little yellow jags in the upper right quadrant add.
Your quilt is fantastic. Love how you quilted it. I us the Triangles for hanging all my smaller quilts now. Works out great. Hugs
This is great. The colors are wonderful. A great interpretation of the Matisse.
This is such a great piece. Especially love those stripes!
I found the site and I put hanging triangles on it.
I may get this in the mail sometime next week!
I will include a photo of the original work of art so you can compare them.
I love the one you did!
This has turned out really well. I enjoyed seeing your making process.
I think your quilt is stunning ... the selection, placement & colors of the Matisse elements ... inspired now to look at Matisse's work & try another quilt ...
thanks!
