Inspired by Bad Art?

I work in a very bland office environment: few windows (in offices where I do not work) and lots of empty hallways with nothing but doors and the occasional innocuous painting like this one.

The colors, which are a bit more vibrant in person,  are interesting to me.  The primary triad of Red, Yellow and Blue seem much more sophisticated than expected when combined with all those dull and dark neutrals.   As the basis for a color palette for a quilt, I think it has possibilities.
