What if I....

15 MINUTES TO PLAY TODAY....

I was looking at my Grandmother's work today and thinking about how she laid pieces on top of sheets and would sew a few down as she went along.  Building a quilt as she went along SLOWLY. bit by bit... I was admiring her stitches,

and thought,

What If I played on my new Bernina and tried out some satin stitches...

Just for 15minutes to get acquainted with the machine...

I grabbed some wool batting and some scraps and laid them out randomly, set my Machine to a short running WIDE zig zag...and stitched them all down in place getting the feel for how quickly the machine needed to fill in the seams...

15 minutes to practice will get you over your fears of trying something new.

Making 13"square was quick, and allowed to me practice, make mistakes, and get better at the technique.
Flipping it over and LOOKING at that, also inspired me! You never know what you will find if you ALWAYS DO THE SAME THINGS over and over...

And now I have a new Giftie for myself!  I think I will hang on to it to remind me to play...

The back is almost as cool as the front. How are you liking your new Bernina? It is quite different from the Juki, but they each have their charms. Love the pillow.

Just love that pillow. The work you produce in your 15 minutes play is amazing. Fabric mix is great, I like the plain with the patterned.

I am always thinking if reasons not to satin stitch but maybe after 15 minutes I would not be so intimidated : ). I have my swap mini quilt and can't add my pic here,so I will email a pic to you later. I would love to join this blog next time there is an opening!

Yummy pillow! Hard to believe YOU need a reminder to play! It seems to happen automatically for you. But you certainly can keep the pillow because it is PRETTY!

I love that close up of your grandmother's stitching. You are so lucky to have that heritage to inspire you. Your pillow is great. I've never been a big fan of satin stitches because mine look sort of like thread sausages. What kind of thread are you using?
