ochre...

This week's challenge was ochre or "baby poo" as my friend (and a newly minted mother) said. Well, one person's "ick" is another person's "ooh la la ". Had fun this week as ochre is one of my faves. Think it looks great with almost anything! I have many visual associations with this color but my block this week was inspired by Provence. I used a fat quarter from a bin of fabric that I was going to donate with some Kaffe Fassett scraps to sew the block. Since my mauve also came from this bin of uglies am thinking that I better hang on to it until Victoria's series of color challenges is over as odds are something needed will be in there!

Here is the starter fabric...

Here are the added fabrics...

This looks so great! I'd forgotten how much I like an ochre and gray palate.

I can't believe that piece of fabric was in your "donate" bin! I like it a lot. Great block.

This block is a great vehicle for your made fabric. I see no ugly fabric. How do you do the sample fabric squares? - it's very effective.

I am struggling to get rid of my Calf **** association, and learn to love the color. Maybe I need to take a trip to Provence!
(Love that bit of color in the center again)
