PEACH by sheila 77

I've been using a lot of peach fabrics recently. This is a sample from a recent project.

I started with my box of very little scraps, playing with peach and other colours just to see what went together. It was fairly random playing but I quite liked what was happening here.
I started with this block which you can see in the scraps above.
I could actually use some of the scraps, others I had to find the original fabric. Most of this below was put together based on the scraps. I do like it at this stage.
I had to add more to finish it off, with other fabrics not in the scrap design. I sewed on blue borders, then hurriedly took them off. Thought it was too heavy for the piece. I'd be interested to hear other opinions.
This is the piece so far, with a lighter border. I'm going to leave it for a day or two. I'm thinking of putting a scrappy border round it to square it up.

Colour Report – Peach

What did I think of this colour at the start?
Liked it very much. I've been using this colour a lot recently.
What fabrics go with this colour?
Most colours.
What fabrics don’t go with this colour?
I'm not sure about dark green or a strong yellow and it would be interesting to try it with grey and black.
Do I like this colour better or less after working with it?
I still like it as much.
Will it inspire a new palette?
I'll keep using it.
Other comments
This piece was the easiest to make so far. I like the way the design/fabric decision making was taken away by starting out with scraps. I'd quite like to make a piece with the fabrics which don't go with the challenge colour. Maybe next time.

Hmmm.... I like the blue bordered one! The block itself is very nice with good contrast and movement.

I love the Hot pink and lime green with peach... The darker border one would sure look goo din my bedroom! LOL! I think peach is a fun color that can really take on BRIGHTS in a fun way. Great job Sheila!

I really like the way this piece came together. I like the darker border with it. The darker colors really bring out the zing in the center, while the lighter border tells it to calm down. I guess it depends on the mood you are looking for. Beautiful block.

I really like the darker border! It brings out the blue compliments in your "made fabric". Great work... love the mix of batiks and other cottons.

I love what you did! The range of your colors is fabulous!

Your work is making me rethink what I want to do - thanks!! I am now on my third wildly different approach to peach - which I didn't have much of to begin with.

This challenge is definitely helping me look at peach with new eyes - thanks everyone!

Wow what a great selection of scraps to play with. Your first borders worked, but now I am interested to see the scrappy border you add around the calm, sweet blue floral.

What a beautiful stash of fabrics you have, I love the way you piece them together. Both the light and the dark borders are good, perhaps your scrappy border should be dark hues as the darker blue seems to me to pull the quilt together. Again an inspiring approach.

Just love the way those blue borders seem to complete this piece. It looks finished to me... and ready to hang. Bravo!
