Hello Yellow

Today my DH and I spent the 'perfect' afternoon together at our quilt shop - we are not open on Sundays and you'd think our One Day Off would be spent away from the shop...but it was so "piece-full" - just the two of us. He worked on a quilt for my Mom...and I worked on *Yellow*.  I wondered how BRIGHT yellow would work with all we've done so far - but after a couple days of looking at fabrics...here's what I chose.
I brought back my favorite green/wh polka dottie and a little avocado & ochre. I'm trying to use a different b/w for every block - with the top yellow fab, I couldn't resist repeating the 'flowers'

My "made fabric"

The sewing went well, even tho I did have to invite Mr Hammer back for a quick visit

But I was gentle....
And now....say Hello to Yellow!

I thought this yellow guy would be the 'odd fellow' out - but really plays well with others. I'm really quite pleased.
I had a little extra time while Bob was quilting - so I caught up on my "wonky stars" - I'm doing at least ONE with each of the colors - they are not 'in place' - so many more will join in before the final placement is chosen, but wanted to give you a sneakie peekie - found a fun lay-out in my travels online (sometimes insomnia has it's perks).

You've got this one nailed. (sorry, couldn't resist). The wonky stars layout is terrific. I like the secondary pattern in the black.

A bit of bright goes a long way! It really gives your blocks depth! Beautiful!!

I like your stars on the different black fabrics, all the colours seem to blend well. Good to see Mr Hammer in action.

I really like all of your color challenge blocks and the stars set in the black/white! (I would find it hard to resist putting the two together.)

Wonderful things and great pieces! So....what do you use the hammer for?

Really like the way your quilt is developing and the way the different black / white background fabric is gaining prominence: 2 quilts in one.
