Late to the Color Party

I broke my arm several months ago so I am just getting started with the color challenge. My late start gave me lots of time to follow others progress and get ideas.

Color collection, missing orange

I wanted something that would highlight the chosen color - a monochromatic look. I like 1/2 square triangles but could not come up with a background fabric in the stash that would give enough contrast to all the colors.

So this is where I am so far. I decided to make fabric from the color of the week, then use one of the other colors as a contrast.

First try -Pinwheels

My first try was a pin wheel. Make strip triangles  and then highlight them with one of the other colors - BORING!!!!

So then I just made a large piece of fabric and inserted narrow strips of a contrast color from the collection. I like this. I have 3 done and another (mauve) started and I think this will work. Right now I am just making random size blocks About 10-12 inches and will figure out how they fit together later.

Looking forward to adding orange strips to the mauve block.

Sometimes starting late is OK.

Can't wait for more colors. So far they have been the. "warn" colors. When do the " cool " ones show up?

You are great a catching up. The blocks are really detailed and have great depth. I especially like the yellow.
