GRAPE

Grape is the easiest block I've made so far; maybe because I love the colors I used. I will use
grape again, and again, and again I am sure. My memory of grape/purple when I was a child, is
that it was a color for old ladies with lace hankerchiefs. Now I love grape/purple!

I also began reworking my other blocks so they are more similar in size. Bright orange still
seems like it belongs in a different universe. We will see if the coming weeks bring any other
brights; otherwise, maybe I will redo bright orange or not use it with these blocks.

Great work, Willa, I love this set of original blocks. I think the orange goes quite happily with the rest, but maybe the orange block is brighter in real life?

Great blocks! Are they improv or is there a planned madness to them? Either way, they are really fun to look at. I'm with Sheila, the orange doesn't look so bad in the photo.

Oh, gosh! I'm so behind. Will get back to it in mid-late July after Mom's big visit. I've had to turn my sewing table back into an eating table. Crazy, I know!

I'm new to this blog and have so enjoyed seeing everyone's posts... Love the grape.

I need to get playing with my scraps. This is such a cool idea!

Gorgeous, Willa! You have certainly captured the essense of grape. Your blocks are all gorgeous together! I see the orange, yellow and red as all bright... and there are another 6 weeks to go. I'm sure you will find just the right combination for them all.

Annie asked if my blocks are planned or improved. Somewhere in between I think. I start in the middle and build and slash as I go.

This block is so elegant. I really love it. All your blocks together look so beautiful. This is going to be such a wonderful quilt!

I wouldn't get rid of anything. I think the reason it stands out so much is because you haven't mixed up the blocks. The orange/rusts are all on one side and the purples are together. I think the purple is as intense as the orange and the yellow too. Spread it around some more....it is beautiful! Your blocks are wonderful.

What a beautiful block. The yellow with purple flowers looks almost like silk. The group is great. I'd second the opinions here and wait to see how the next blocks fit in before you redo bright orange.
